Hello,

My name is Marte Gulbrandsen, and I live and work in Oslo. I work primarily with ink, charcoal and oil pastel, often in combination with text. Desire, humour, vulnerability and the feeling of wanting to disappear are recurring themes in my work.

The language in my images is often raw and direct, placed alongside more precise linework. The contrast is the point: the overt alongside what has been drawn with careful precision.

The works may be perceived as dark, but they just as often emerge through play, humour and an exploration of the thoughts we usually try to hide or censor

Sennelier oil pastels. High-quality pastels that can be built up in layers. Their high pigment concentration creates rich, opaque colours with a creamy consistency.

Original works measuring 59 × 84 cm are created on 140 gsm art paper.

Original works measuring 70 × 100 cm are created on 340 gsm paper, which is thick enough to support the larger format without bending.

The prints are made to order through Gelato, which partners with local printing facilities in Norway and many other countries. Each order is produced as close to the customer as possible, depending on product availability and production capacity.

The artworks are printed on Premium Matte Paper, 200 gsm – a sturdy, high-quality uncoated paper with a smooth, matte finish. It provides a clean, glare-free appearance and reproduces lines, contrasts and solid areas of colour with clarity.

Oljepasteller fra sennelier. Høykvalitetspasteller som kan bygges lagvis. Pastellene har høyt pigmentinnhold som gir dekkende, mettet farge og en kremet konsistens.

Prints

Trykkes hos Prodigi, som drifter over 50 trykkerier i mer enn ti land. Dette gjør det mulig å trykke nærmest mulig kunden i stedet for å sende alt fra ett sted. Selskapet ble grunnlagt i 2014 og er basert i Storbritannia.

Papiret er Hahnemühle German Etching, 310 gsm – matt, lett strukturert, med en varm, naturlig hvit tone. Fargen trykkes ned i papirfibrene som ekte giclée fine art-print. Dette er samme teknikk som brukes til begrensede opplag og fine art-fotografi.
